I have decided to make some huge changes with my dA to try and get some better use out of it and to really get back into drawing. This will probably include deleting a lot of my old work, potentially buying a premium membership to get my page looking the way it used to, and possibly a name change (pending membership)! So wish me luck, guys. This is in preparation for starting 2014 on a great start, making sure I'm active, and just making art. Because art is wonderful. And if my new style turns out to be a keeper, I will be opening point commissions in the future. A lot of things around the corner...

In the meantime, any ideas on a new username?? :la:

Hello all, I hope you're doing well. I haven't been on here much, but I've been trying to fiddle around with my tablet and writing lately, so hopefully I'm about to break my spell of being unproductive. I posted a picture of Sinclair a short while ago, so make sure to check it out and let me know what you think! He's supposed to be handsome... I don't know if I captured that!

Anyways, I'm so glad dA put on a membership discount! I knew if I waited long enough, something would come up. And here it is, 6 months for the price of 3. Yeeeesss. Well, I don't have much to say that's interesting. Check out my new lit submissions if you get a chance as well, too (they aren't seeing much love).

I'll try to post something good soon!!

Love,
C Sith

Today I found out you can search Google with images, so I decided to try it out with some of my artwork just for fun! You know, see how accurate Google was. I knew that some people would use my stuff without asking or crediting since this is the internet, and I was curious as to how many.

But what I found is disgusting.

The one with the most stolen uses is a fanart, so I'm not picky about that. They left my signature on it and it's mostly profile pictures that they're using it for. But then there are images I created for myself only and I wrote in the comments that my work can in NO way be used. Yet here they are, modifying it and removing my name, adding their own things, and taking credit for it. I cannot begin to fathom how that could bring them happiness. The image I am mostly referring to is my Facebook Timeline Cover that I created a while back. I worked SO hard on that thing, and spent a lot of time adding my own personal interests and feelings. To see them violate my hard work because they're too damn lazy to create their own or because they couldn't make one like mine is sickening. So many pieces of my work are used without my permission and they take credit for them. Even websites for resources are taking full credit for them.

I don't want to use "free resources" online anymore, because what if those resources are like mine? They take my name off it, stick their domain on it, and suddenly it's okay to use? I look at the other Facebook covers beside mine and wonder: how many of those were stolen from hard-working artists?

This makes me not want to post anything anymore. If someone else is just going to take it, then why should I put my whole self into these things? What about the cursors I made? The icons? Stuff that I did make for people to use, but other people are taking credit for them. What about my stories? How many people have stolen those? How many people are stealing my ideas this very moment?

I read something on another artists' page a while ago that said: "Take inspiration, not ideas." And I could not agree more. If you look at my artwork and you like it, try to make something with your own hands that was inspired by my work. Create your own cover photo or your own fan art. Make icons that people can use! Be creative! But stealing work? That is a slap in every artists's face -- whether it was their artwork stolen or not. You know why? Because stealing work is like saying they don't deserve the credit - that hardwork is nothing anymore.

I will be placing watermarks through all of my work if I continue to post, and I will reduce the size and quality of each piece before posting it in order to defer theft of quality submissions. That way, I also have proof that I was the creator of the piece. I will also more thoroughly document my process of creating work.

If my not-so-great work is being stolen now, I don't want my good work from the future to be taken. I'm learning early on the first-hand experience of theft. I guess prevention is key -- taking steps before something great is taken.

Anyways, I hope none of the people reading this have (or ever will) steal someone's work. It isn't clever or worth it. All it is is selfishness. I'm an artist, not your personal tool.

So after a few requests, I've decided to open up point commissions. I'm starting my new job tomorrow and art will help me decompress. If the slots are filled up and you're still interested in a commission, just check back on this journal to see if any have opened up!

A note on pricing (aka the awkward part):
I'm going to be entirely honest with you guys. My prices have risen for several reasons, but they are still realistic considering the following things:

:bulletgreen: Each piece takes me several hours to complete
:bulletgreen: My old prices were for simpler drawings
:bulletgreen: My technique and detailing has greatly improved
:bulletgreen: $1 = 80 pts; my old prices translate to $0.38-$0.75

Pricing:
Single Chibi: 240 :points: ($3)
Pair of Chibis: 400 :points: ($5)
Three Chibis: 560 :points: ($7)
Sketch: Closed
Lineart: Closed
Short Stories: Closed
Facebook Timelines: Closed

Commission Slots:
1. Reserved
2. OPEN
3. OPEN

Requests (special):
1. iPodNano360 Status: Complete

Legend:
:star::star-half::star-empty: :pointr: Three stars are used to show progress
PAID :pointr: I wonder what this is for... haha :)

Example Work:
Taking a Stroll by CaitxxSith Sinclair and Ren by CaitxxSith Rainy Day by CaitxxSith

I'm still feeling out the prices. The dollar amounts are what I would ask in person, however I understand that not everyone can put money on dA or come across points easily. I am open to discussion on these prices, and if it comes down to it, I am willing to do requests in certain situations. I mean we're all here because we love art, and after struggling to pay off university, I know that sometimes seeing someone happy by your doing is more valuable than currency.

Thanks guys :)

Best Regards,
C. Sith

Hey guys. I hope you're all doing well, making it through this insane heat. It's been a while since I last updated my journal, but I figured I would let you guys in on what I'll be up to for the next while. As some of you know, I have a poll going on my page for you guys to let me know what you're hoping to see more of. So far, I think the most votes has been for chibis, so you can expect some more of those. This poll will continue though, and which ever is most popular will be the thing I work on next.

Aside from those things that I listed, however, I am planning on doing something new. I have always been a fan of journals and about a year ago, I made my own -- binding and all. I'm still proud of it even after time has passed, but I want to see if I can improve my skills. So I am planning on creating a field journal for one of my OCs. I haven't decided who to do yet, but it will be between: Woodrow, Annabel, Henry, or Ren. I haven't included my other OCs because I don't think they would own a field journal, to be honest. I've been mulling this idea over for quite some time. Originally, I had planned to make a sort of "Book of Salem" which would be all about the history of the world I created, but I didn't think that would be as interesting as having personal ideas in it. Would you rather read a history book or someone's diary? I'd pick the diary.

I'm not entirely sure what I want to include in the field journal, but I have a few ideas. I want to include specimens of leaves and soil, and draw some of the wildlife. I've been searching up field journals for some inspiration, but anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I'll be posting all the pages separately and posting a link when I'm done to view them (so I don't spam you guys with the journal). But I'd also like to know which character you'd be most interested in reading about/seeing their adventures! Here's a couple brief explanations of them below:

Woodrow Sable // (26, M, 6ft 2") // An ex-commander and elite pilot for the army of Salem. Grew up as a child prodigy and joined the Aviators when he was 8 years old. He is charming and polite, but lives in conflict with himself. He wants to be a defender of justice, but also wishes to lead the Aviators. However, his knowledge of the corruption within Salem's government and army prevents him from doing so with a clear mind. Within his lifetime, he has changed so drastically that he seems to have lived an entire life in his 26 years. He adores exploring and travelling to places yet uncharted.

Henry Jones // (24, M, 5ft 9") // A childhood friend of Woodrow who lost himself early in life to his own uncertainty. He, like Woodrow, battled against an inner desire to be something more. His father expected him to be a politician, but he always had a taste for adventure like Woodrow. Henry confuses his admiration and desire to be like Woodrow for love and finds himself heartbroken. He lives his life as his father expects, falling into a deep depression as he ponders his old memories of hope. This eventually costs him his career and he is left with nothing but a chance to change his fate.

Annabel Black // (19, F, 5ft 5") // A student pilot under the instruction of Woodrow. She is particularly bright and thirsty for knowledge, as well as honest, outspoken, and just. She has disguised herself as a boy so as to join the army and wishes to discover everything she can. Her main motivation is to see the wonders of the world and be the person her parents never had a chance to be.

Ren Renyer // (27, M, 6ft 3") // Real name: Thaddeus Renyer. Brother of Sinclair Renyer, Woodrow's mysterious friend. Commonly considered a "tortured soul" by others, Ren is cold and cruel. He speaks his mind with frigidity and sees life in a narrow spectrum of disappointment and labour. He is an avid smoker and makes a point of appearing upper class in suits and shiny black shoes. However, his opinions of the world begin to change once he meets Caroline, his brother's closest friend, and starts to live for something other than himself - love.

I know this was long, but thank you, thank you, thank you, for everyone who read it! Let me know what you think~ Have a wonderful evening!

Best Regards,
C. Sith
